21st century problems require 21st century solutions. People of color have historically been on the wrong side of almost every data set beginning with low birth weight and high infant mortality, poor retention and graduation rates, high unemployment and lowest earnings, and disparate health care leading to unnecessarily higher mortality rates.
It is time to admit we have to do things differently. The skill sets of cultural and linguistic competency promote the necessary 21st century values and strategies to combat and provide relief from historic and unending education and health inequities. This training is a new initiative to address the historical and unending reality of racial and ethnic disparities in health care and education which are well documented.
